On March 20th, 2018 the first line of the Ourgla tramway, comprising 16 stations, each consisting of two shelters and various furniture, was officially inaugurated.
Ouargla, thus has become the 5th city of Algeria to have a tramway system.
It is a huge project, made even more ambitious by the environmental characteristics of the place of setting: Ouargla, in Algeria, is a city “at the gates” of the Sahara desert.
The construction works were carried out by a consortium comprising Rover Alcisa, Elecnor and Assignia Infraestructuras.
Maitre d’œuvre (Construction supervision) and Bureau d’Etudes (Project Study) was carried out by the prestigious company SYSTRA , on the clientele of the Entreprise du Métro d’Alger (EMA).
Metalco had the honor of supplying 32 customized shelters and matching furniture (totems, barriers and litter bins).
Ouargla is a city in Algeria, the capital of the province (wilaya) of the same name.
