The redevelopment of the public gardens in Piazza Matteotti was an opportunity to redesign a historic site from the early 1900s, which had been distorted by successive interventions. It also restored a new identity to the gateway to the historic center of Castiglion Fiorentino (Arezzo, Tuscany), providing residents with a welcoming and vibrant space on one of the most beautiful terraces overlooking the Val di Chiana.
The design reinterprets, in a contemporary key, the garden’s 1930s design, restoring clear hierarchies between paths, “piazzette,” and rest areas. Using elements from the GRANDIFIORIERE collection to enclose the green spaces, it strikes the right balance between functionality and aesthetics.
The perimeter walkway maintains its current “belvedere” characteristics, is further enhanced by the installation of new seating from the COBRA collection, and is secured by the installation of a perimeter parapet along the existing wall.
