2010 South Africa World Cup - with the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa the adventure officially starts for the national team. At "Casa Azzurri" in Pretoria the works in the "Farnesina Design Collection" are exhibited, which remain on show for the whole of the World Cup; sport and design are brought together to represent Italy in the world.
The exhibition is at its second international event after the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, it aims to promote the design and excellence of Italy across the world and is designed to be a showcase of Italian know-how in the field of design, craft and industry.
When they launched the "Farnesina Design Collection", the Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini stressed that it was intended to "tangibly demonstrate the strong link that runs between culture, business and foreign policy", in a system that has "the ability to express, through Italian culture, the entrepreneurial Italian genius and the style that characterises Italy".
In "Casa Azzurri" a pathway has been set up with a single product from each company, chosen as the best representation of the range and style of each company. The participating companies include: Bernini, Bosa, Cerruti Baleri, Domodinamica, Knoll, Ifi, Loccioni, Matteo Grassi, METALCO, Progetti, Stone, Venini.
The arrangement of the Farnesina Design Collection will be accompanied by events linked to the theme of design: speeches by artists, architects and company representatives, concerts and evenings of entertainment, which will be the backdrop to the sporting events that will accompany the Italian athletes.
